DEEP SOUTH GOLDENS

The PennHIP test is considered by many vets and breeders as the best tool for measuring the health of 9k hips. Unlike other tests that give a grade of hips (Excellent, Good, Fair, etc) PennHip provides a precise measurement. 

 

The lower the number, the better.

.54 is the breed average for Golden Retrievers. A number lower than this is better than the breed average is a number greater than .54 is below the breed average.

We only breed .54 or better as PennHIP recommends only breeding dogs at breed average or better (top 50%). And if a dog is higher than .45 we again verify a healthy hip history in the pedigree before proceeding. Remember, the lower the number, the better.
